Bullis Charter School Tutoring

Bullis Charter grades its elementary students on a standards scale instead of letter grades, and its middle schoolers spend time every week in a Fab Lab designing and building. Our tutors are current and former Stanford students who are encouraging with younger kids and clear with older ones.

Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a Stanford tutor who fits.

We tutor Bullis students in everything from early reading and math facts to Algebra 2, along with writing, science and study habits. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home or online.

Goals set every October

Each October, Bullis students, families and teachers set Focused Learning Goals together, using the school’s assessment data. From third grade on, one goal is academic, in reading, writing, speaking or math. A tutor works toward the same goal at home, so the extra practice lines up with what the teacher is looking for. Middle school at Bullis

Bullis middle schoolers take English and social studies together in a double block, spend time each week in the Fab Lab on design and building projects, and take part in two-week Intersessions three times a year. Math pathways run as far as Algebra 2, and eighth graders finish with a personal passion project. A tutor keeps a student steady in math, whatever their pathway, and helps them write well in the double-block humanities class. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.

The switch to letter grades

Letter grades start in sixth grade at Bullis, and middle school grades are updated in PowerSchool, the school’s online grade portal, at least every other week. A tutor helps a student keep track of deadlines, plan the week, and turn in work they’re proud of. Learn more about our academic coaching.
