Menlo Park Tutoring

Menlo Park sits right next to Stanford, so our tutors are never far away. Every tutor at Cardinal Tutors is a current or former Stanford student, and we match each student with someone who fits their subjects, goals and personality.

From Encinal, Laurel and Oak Knoll through Hillview and on to high school, we tutor math, science and English and writing for elementary, middle school and high school students. We also help with SAT, ACT and ISEE prep, college essays and study skills.

Our tutors come to your home in Menlo Park, or meet your student online, always one-on-one. Working at home helps students build study habits they can repeat on their own, in the same place they do their homework.

What parents say

“Our tutor was a senior at Stanford who tutored my son in English, and also SAT preparation. My son received great marks on the SAT exam and also improved his grade in AP English from B to A.”

Janet Y., Menlo Park

“We used Cardinal Tutors and were happy with the level of professionalism and responsiveness we received. The math tutor selected for our son was a good match for him. I would recommend Cardinal Tutors without reservation.”

Kerry P., Menlo Park

“The tutors themselves have been great: well-prepared, thoughtful and on-time. At each level of math needed, we found these Stanford students to be not just helpful tutors but great mentors as well. … This is a first class operation.”

Christy S., Portola Valley

Math pathways in Menlo Park City schools

In Menlo Park City schools, the 5/6A compacted math course covers all of 5th grade and part of 6th grade in one year. At Hillview, students follow several math pathways, with teacher-recommended Summer Bridge options for reinforcement or advancement. A tutor can work through a confusing assignment, revisit a prerequisite skill or help your student keep up with the pace of a compacted course. Some Menlo Park families attend Las Lomitas district schools; our Atherton page covers those pathways.

Getting ready for Menlo-Atherton

For students heading to Menlo-Atherton, 8th grade is a useful time to strengthen the skills they will bring to high school. A tutor can review math topics that still feel uncertain, help organize a longer writing assignment and practice planning homework across several classes. We also work with students once high school begins, using their actual coursework to decide what needs attention each week.

We’ve tutored students from Hillview, La Entrada, St. Raymond, Beechwood, Lydian Academy, Mid-Peninsula High School and East Palo Alto Academy, as well as nearby Menlo-Atherton and Menlo School. We also have a page for Synapse.
