We match students with current Stanford students and alumni for live, one-on-one online tutoring anywhere in the United States. Get help with a difficult class, keeping up with assignments or college essays.

A tutor your student connects with

We’ll find a tutor who understands what your child needs help with and knows how to connect with them. Tell us about their interests and the kind of person they would enjoy learning from. If your student would be more comfortable with a woman or with a man, tell us that too.

How online sessions work

Sessions are live, one student and one tutor, using a shared whiteboard, the student’s own documents and the class materials they’re working from. Many students find it easier to focus at their own desk, and it makes late-evening sessions before a test simple to arrange.

Online math tutoring, from algebra to calculus

Bring the problem that didn’t make sense in class, the homework question your student can’t get past or the test coming up next week. We help with math, including pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, precalculus and AP Calculus, working through the reasoning so your student can tackle the next problem.

We also offer science, English and writing, and SAT and ACT preparation. We work with students from elementary school through college.

Stanford women as tutors and STEM role models

Looking for a female math or science tutor for your daughter? We can match girls with women who are Stanford students or alumnae. Your daughter can get help with algebra, calculus, chemistry or physics and get to know someone whose college experience opens up new conversations: what it’s like to study engineering, how to choose a major and how to handle a demanding class.

She may already love science and want to go further. She may need a patient tutor who makes it easier to ask questions. Tell us what she’s working on and what sparks her curiosity.

Study habits and encouragement

Sometimes the challenge is getting started, planning ahead or keeping track of assignments. Our tutors can help students break work into manageable steps and prepare for tests. A college student can also be a mentor: someone to ask about a challenging course, a setback or what college is like. Learn more about our academic coaching.

Help with college essays and applications

Our tutors can help your student brainstorm a Common App essay, revise supplemental essays and work through UC Personal Insight Questions. Working with a current college student also gives them someone to ask about the application experience. Your student does the writing; we help them develop their ideas and express them clearly. Find an online tutor

Tell us what your student needs help with and what you hope will change. Include their grade, time zone, availability and any tutor preferences, and choose “Virtual” when the form asks where you would prefer to meet.
