Whether your student is at Woodside School, Woodside High or a private school nearby, our tutors work with elementary, middle school and high school students in math, science and English and writing, and help with SAT and ACT prep, college essays and study skills.

Our tutors come to your home in Woodside, or meet your student online, always one-on-one. Working at home saves a Woodside family the drive, and students build study habits in the place where they already do their homework.

“The tutors themselves have been great: well-prepared, thoughtful and on-time. At each level of math needed, we found these Stanford students to be not just helpful tutors but great mentors as well. … This is a first class operation.”

“The long term tutor that we had for pre calc and for ACT tutoring was amazing. She was completely professional, organized, thorough and easy to work with. … If needed, we will definitely use this service in the future.”

Melissa H., Redwood City

“We used Cardinal Tutors and were happy with the level of professionalism and responsiveness we received. The math tutor selected for our son was a good match for him. I would recommend Cardinal Tutors without reservation.”

Building algebra readiness at Woodside School

At Woodside School, math placement draws on several measures, including the MDTP Algebra Readiness assessment for students seeking an earlier start in Algebra 1. Readiness means understanding the underlying skills across topics. A tutor can review your student’s classwork, find gaps in fractions, equations or other prerequisite material, and practice applying those skills to unfamiliar problems. That work supports students in their current class as well as those considering a more advanced course. The school explains its math pathways and requirements online.

Preparing for high school around Woodside

Families around Woodside attend Woodside High and nearby independent schools, including Woodside Priory, Sacred Heart and Menlo School. As that transition approaches, we can help an 8th grader strengthen math foundations, build an essay from an outline and plan homework without a parent managing every step. For students applying to private schools, we also help with entrance-exam preparation based on the requirements of the schools they are considering.
