Prospect teaches algebra, geometry and statistics together in integrated math courses, and its faster path reaches AP Calculus as early as tenth grade. Our tutors are current and former Stanford students who know this material well and are good at showing how the pieces fit together.

We tutor Prospect students in everything from Integrated Math 1 and The Living Earth to AP Calculus BC and AP Physics, and help with essays and college applications. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home or online.
Integrated math and the faster STEM course
Prospect ninth graders start in Integrated Math 1 or 2, where algebra, geometry and statistics are mixed into every year instead of taught separately, using CPM, a curriculum built on problems students work through in teams. After Integrated Math 2, students take Integrated Math 3 and then Precalculus, or Integrated Math 3 STEM, an accelerated course for students heading toward science and engineering that leads directly to AP Calculus AB and then BC. A tutor helps a student connect the topics an integrated course weaves together and keeps them on pace in the faster course. Learn more about our math tutoring.
Three years of science
Every Prospect student takes The Living Earth in ninth grade, Chemistry in the Earth System or the more demanding Pre-AP Chemistry in tenth, and Physics of the Universe in eleventh. AP Biology, AP Chemistry and AP Physics 1 and 2 come after. A Stanford tutor helps a student set up each physics and chemistry problem before the numbers come in. What parents say
“My daughter went from a C in Algebra II to an A- in one semester. The tutor was great, she really related to my daughter and made learning fun for her. Not only did her grade in math improve, her study habits improved and she’s doing better in all of her classes.”
Eduardo S., San Francisco
“The tutors themselves have been great: well-prepared, thoughtful and on-time. At each level of math needed, we found these Stanford students to be not just helpful tutors but great mentors as well. … This is a first class operation.”
Christy S., Portola Valley
“My son was a senior this year and I reached out to Cardinal Tutors and was lucky enough to find the most amazing tutor. I wish I had found him earlier.”
Sharon C., Los Altos
Planning an honors and AP schedule
Prospect publishes how much homework to expect in its AP, honors and accelerated courses: six to seven hours a week for Integrated Math 3 STEM, for example, and five to seven for AP US History. A tutor helps a student look at the whole week, plan around the heavy nights, and keep up without burning out. Learn more about our academic coaching.
