San Pasqual High School Tutoring

At San Pasqual, honors math students sit in the same integrated math classes as everyone else and earn honors through extra work. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from biology to AP Calculus BC.

Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC San Diego tutor who fits.

Two versions of Math 3

In the third year of integrated math, San Pasqual students choose between two versions of Math 3: one with statistics, which leads toward AP Statistics, and one with precalculus, which leads toward AP Calculus. The precalculus version is the steeper of the two, because calculus will lean on its functions and trigonometry in almost every problem. A tutor works through each unit with your student as the class reaches it, and for an honors student, makes room for the extra work alongside the regular homework. Two more units in Honors Anatomy

Honors Human Anatomy and Physiology adds two units to the regular course and moves faster to fit them in, so each test spans more body systems. The thread running through the course is regulation: how the body keeps temperature, blood sugar and water in balance. A tutor uses that thread to tie the systems together, quizzing your student on how each one helps keep the body steady, and spends the rest of the session on whatever doesn’t come back easily. “My son had a wonderful experience with Cardinal Tutors when he needed help with his High School math and science classes. It turns out my son also needed help staying organized with all his assignments, something that the tutor helped with as well.”

“Their response time is outstanding. Neil responded quickly to my tutoring request for my 15-year-old. Love knowing that I have access to these high-quality services for my children. And, we use them via Zoom since we live in Tennessee. I cannot say enough great things about this business:)”

More writing in Honors English 9

Honors English 9 adds writing assignments that the regular freshman class doesn’t have. For a ninth grader, the hardest part is the middle of an essay: saying what a quotation shows instead of repeating it. Our tutors read drafts with your student and ask what each quotation proves, then your student rewrites the paragraph. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
