Coronado has its own school district, and its math placement and its high school schedule work differently from the rest of San Diego. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who help Coronado students with both.

We offer one-on-one tutoring for Coronado Middle and Coronado High students, in math, science, English and history, and help juniors and seniors with the SAT, ACT and college essays. Our tutors come to your home in Coronado, and online sessions are available too.
Math placement in Coronado
In Coronado’s honors math, students at Coronado Middle School cover 7th and 8th grade math in one year and take Integrated Math 1 in 8th grade. The district places students using its own tests, and it doesn’t count math courses taken outside the district toward a faster path in middle school. So for a student who wants honors math, doing well on those tests is what matters. Our tutors help students prepare for them. Learn more about our San Diego math tutoring.
New to Coronado schools
A student who is new to Coronado High takes a math placement test, given in June and August. New 6th and 7th graders take one when they enroll. If your family is moving to Coronado, a tutor can review the last course your student finished, so the test places them where they belong.
Coronado High
Coronado High School has four classes of about 90 minutes on most days. Some students take two math courses in a single year, which can take a student from Integrated Math 1 to AP Calculus quickly. With courses moving that fast, small gaps grow, and a weekly session with a tutor keeps them from growing. The campus is also home to the Coronado School of the Arts, whose classes meet after the regular school day, and we arrange sessions around them.
