Encinitas students can attend one of three high schools, and one of them, La Costa Canyon, offers the IB Diploma. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who work with students in Encinitas, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Leucadia and Olivenhain.

Middle school and high school in Encinitas
Students attend Encinitas Union or Cardiff elementary schools through 6th grade, then Diegueño or Oak Crest Middle School for 7th and 8th. La Costa Canyon High School is the neighborhood high school, and the only one in the San Dieguito district with the International Baccalaureate Diploma. San Dieguito Academy is a school families choose, with four long classes a day. Some Encinitas students request a place at Canyon Crest Academy or apply to Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad.
IB and AP courses
La Costa Canyon’s IB students write a long independent research paper and complete graded projects in each subject, on top of their exams. That work goes better when it is planned months ahead. AP students at La Costa Canyon and San Dieguito Academy have their exams each May. Our tutors help students plan long assignments, practice timed writing and keep up in math from Integrated Math 1 through calculus.
Before 7th grade
San Dieguito gives 6th graders in the Encinitas Union and Cardiff districts a math test in the spring, and the result helps decide their 7th grade math course at Diegueño or Oak Crest. A tutor can spend 6th grade making sure that result shows what a student can really do.
Families a little to the south can read about our Solana Beach tutoring.
What Cardinal Tutors families say
“The long term tutor that we had for pre calc and for ACT tutoring was amazing. She was completely professional, organized, thorough and easy to work with.”
