La Jolla Tutoring

La Jolla’s schools ask a lot of their students, from the advanced classes at Muirlands to AP courses at La Jolla High and the admissions tests for Bishop’s and Country Day. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who help La Jolla students with all of it.

We offer one-on-one tutoring in math, science, English and history, along with SAT, ACT and ISEE preparation. Our tutors come to your home in La Jolla, and online sessions are available too.

Muirlands and La Jolla High

Close to half of the students at Muirlands Middle School are identified as gifted, and the school says nearly all of its core classes are taught at that level. That means demanding reading and writing from the start of 6th grade. La Jolla High School adds AP courses, a Biomedical Pathway and college-credit classes. Our tutors help Muirlands students with the reading and writing load, and La Jolla High students with AP coursework and exam review.

Math in La Jolla schools

San Diego Unified teaches Integrated Math 1, 2 and 3 in place of Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2. Some of the district’s middle schools also offer faster courses in 6th and 7th grade, so a student can take Integrated Math 1 in 8th. Our tutors help students in whichever course they’re in. Bishop’s, Country Day and the ISEE

The Bishop’s School is in La Jolla and takes new students from 6th grade up. Bishop’s and La Jolla Country Day School both ask applicants for the ISEE or SSAT, the admissions tests independent schools use. Country Day wants testing finished by February 1, so it makes sense to start ISEE and SSAT prep in the fall. Some La Jolla students also apply to Francis Parker School, which requires the ISEE.
