Mountain View Tutoring

Whether your student needs help with one tough class or wants to get ahead, one-on-one tutoring can make a real difference. Our tutors are current and former Stanford students, just a short drive from Mountain View.

Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a Stanford tutor who fits.

From elementary school through Mountain View High and Saint Francis, we tutor Mountain View students in math, science and English and writing. We also help middle school and high school students with test preparation, college essays and study skills.

Our tutors come to your home in Mountain View, or meet your student online, always one-on-one. At home, a Mountain View High or Saint Francis student can work through the week’s classwork with a tutor in the same place they study on their own.

What parents say

“My son was a senior this year and I reached out to Cardinal Tutors and was lucky enough to find the most amazing tutor. I wish I had found him earlier.”

Sharon C., Los Altos

“The tutor (who was a Stanford junior) really connected with my son and inspired him to learn. He had some great study tips and was able to help my son raise his grades by quite a bit.”

Pamela T., Palo Alto

“CT did a great job of matching my daughter’s needs with a physics tutor and she really liked her tutor … We used Cardinal Tutoring again for precalculus. Once again, she had a great tutor she really liked and who really helped her.”

Gail F., Palo Alto

Understanding Mountain View’s math pathways

In Mountain View Whisman middle schools, Math 7 leads to Algebra in 9th grade, Math 7.1 to Geometry and Math 7.2 to Algebra II. Placement considers i-Ready and state assessment results, and students have opportunities to change pathways as they demonstrate readiness. We can work through your student’s current Eureka Math assignments or the district’s recommended summer practice, taking time to explain the ideas behind each step. See the district’s math placement guidance for current requirements.

Starting at Saint Francis

At Saint Francis, incoming freshmen who want to take math above Algebra 1 or Algebra 1 Honors take a qualifying placement exam. We can help an 8th grader review algebra, identify topics that need more practice and explain their solutions clearly. Once high school begins, sessions can follow the student’s actual classwork, whether they are building confidence in Algebra 1 or adjusting to a more advanced course.

Mountain View schools

We’ve tutored students from Mountain View High School and St. Francis High School, as well as nearby Los Altos High School. We also have pages for Khan Lab School and the German International School.
