Redwood City students take on a wide range of classes, from core subjects to IB and AP courses. Our tutors are current and former Stanford students, and they help Redwood City students keep up, fill in gaps and get ahead.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a Stanford tutor who fits.
We tutor a wide range of subjects, including math, science and English and writing, for both middle school and high school students. We also help with IB coursework and the Extended Essay, SAT and ACT prep and college essays.
Our tutors come to your home in Redwood City, or meet your student online, always one-on-one. For a Sequoia student with IB coursework, sessions at home build a study routine in the place where the reading and writing already happen.
What parents say
“The long term tutor that we had for pre calc and for ACT tutoring was amazing. She was completely professional, organized, thorough and easy to work with. … If needed, we will definitely use this service in the future.”
Melissa H., Redwood City
“Our tutor was a senior at Stanford who tutored my son in English, and also SAT preparation. My son received great marks on the SAT exam and also improved his grade in AP English from B to A.”
Janet Y., Menlo Park
“The tutors themselves have been great: well-prepared, thoughtful and on-time. At each level of math needed, we found these Stanford students to be not just helpful tutors but great mentors as well. … This is a first class operation.”
Christy S., Portola Valley
IB coursework at Sequoia High
Sequoia High encourages every student to take at least one IB class. Students who complete the prerequisite courses can also choose the full IB Diploma Programme for 11th and 12th grades. We help with IB coursework and the skills behind longer projects: breaking a research assignment into stages, organizing an argument and planning time to revise. For the Extended Essay, sessions can help students organize their research and develop their own writing.
Building on 8th-grade math
In the Sequoia Union High School District, 9th-grade math placement follows a student’s prior-year coursework. Whether your student is heading to Sequoia, Woodside or Menlo-Atherton, we can use 8th-grade assignments to find topics that need another look. A tutor might revisit equations, work through a word problem or ask the student to explain each step, helping them build understanding they can use in the next course.

We’ve tutored students from Sequoia High School, as well as nearby Woodside High School and Menlo-Atherton. We also have pages for Design Tech High School and Summit Prep.
