Acalanes High School Tutoring

Acalanes students work on a schedule built around 90-minute blocks, with all seven classes meeting briefly on Mondays and an Academy period on Wednesdays and Fridays for getting help from teachers. Long blocks move quickly through material, and a student who comes to Academy with the right questions gets far more out of it. Our UC Berkeley tutors help students use both well.

Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Lafayette or online.

Math at Acalanes

Most Acalanes freshmen start in Algebra 1, Geometry or Geometry Advanced, and that starting point shapes the path to calculus. Students in Geometry Advanced can move through Algebra 2/Precalculus Honors to AP Calculus AB and BC. Students who start in Geometry can reach AP Calculus AB as seniors, by way of Algebra 2 Advanced and AP Precalculus. We tutor every step, and help students finish each course ready for the next one.

Science and engineering

We tutor the Living Earth, which is the biology course, along with chemistry, physics and the AP sciences. For juniors and seniors in Engineering and Applied Physics Honors, a Berkeley engineering student can be a particularly good match.

English, history and languages

AP English starts in junior year at Acalanes, and we help with essays and close reading long before that. We also tutor history, French, Mandarin and Spanish, and help Acalanes juniors and seniors with SAT and ACT prep and college essays.

What Cardinal Tutors families say

“The long term tutor that we had for pre calc and for ACT tutoring was amazing. She was completely professional, organized, thorough and easy to work with.”
