Honors Pre-Calculus
At Amador Valley, Honors Pre-Calculus is the step before AP Calculus BC, and it moves quickly through the material calculus is built on: many kinds of functions, trigonometry and its identities, and a first look at limits. A tutor gets your student a week ahead: by the time a topic comes up in class, they have already worked a few problems on it. Learn more about our math tutoring.
AP Chemistry
AP Chemistry is open to Amador Valley juniors and seniors who have done well in Chemistry and Algebra II, and it is a year of problem-solving: how much of a substance reacts, how fast and how far a reaction goes, and where the energy goes. A tutor goes through your student’s problem sets each week and has them write out every step and the reason for it, the way the exam’s free-response questions ask. Writing an argument
Juniors can take AP English Language, a year of reading arguments closely and writing their own, and Amador Valley also teaches Debate for up to four semesters. A tutor helps your student make a case and defend it, on paper or at the podium. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
