Middle school is where the habits start that carry a student through high school. There are more classes and teachers, more homework and, for the first time, real choices about math placement and, for some families, private high school applications.
The work and the habits
Our tutors help with math, English, science and history, and with the organization and study skills that make it all manageable. Many students find it easier to ask questions of a tutor who’s only a few years older and remembers exactly how 7th grade felt.
Math placement and the road to high school
Across the East Bay, middle school math placement shapes the high school path. We help students prepare for and keep up in accelerated classes, and help others build a strong base on the standard path. See our math tutoring page for how each district handles it. For 8th graders applying to Catholic or independent high schools, we offer HSPT, ISEE and SSAT prep.
Local middle schools
We work with students from Stanley Middle School, Orinda Intermediate, Joaquin Moraga Intermediate, Piedmont Middle School, Charlotte Wood, Los Cerros and Stone Valley.
Sessions are one-on-one, at home or online. Tell us about your student, and we’ll find the right tutor.
