Orinda is the closest of the Lamorinda towns to Berkeley, just through the Caldecott Tunnel, and the Orinda BART station sits a few steps from the Orinda Theatre’s famous marquee. That makes it easy for our UC Berkeley tutors to meet students at home after school.
Orinda’s schools, and the pressure that comes with them
Orinda students move from Del Rey, Glorietta, Sleepy Hollow and Wagner Ranch to Orinda Intermediate, where accelerated math begins in 6th grade and the most advanced students can take Geometry before high school. Most go on to Miramonte, a school known for strong academics and a heavy AP load. Miramonte’s own students have written about burnout, and we take that seriously. Good tutoring should make the work lighter and more efficient, not add to it.
