Bentley spans two campuses: kindergarten through 8th grade in the Oakland hills and the upper school in Lafayette’s Happy Valley. For many students, 9th grade means a new campus, new classmates and a heavier load all at once.

Our UC Berkeley tutors help Bentley students through that move and beyond, in math, the sciences, English and history, and languages. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Oakland, Berkeley or Lafayette, or online.
The move to the upper school
The first semester of 9th grade sets habits that last. Our tutors help new upper school students plan their week, keep up with a heavier workload and prepare for their first high school finals. A college student is also a good person to ask about things beyond homework, such as when to go to a teacher for help and how to study for a big test.
Middle school at Bentley
For Bentley middle schoolers on the Oakland campus, we tutor math and writing, so that the move to a new campus in 9th grade is the only big change.
Applying to Bentley
For families applying, Bentley accepts the ISEE or SSAT, or an online essay in place of a test. We offer one-on-one ISEE and SSAT prep that starts with a practice test. For a student who chooses the essay, a tutor can help them practice writing to a prompt.
