Head-Royce began in Berkeley in 1887 as the Anna Head School, on land UC Berkeley later bought, so it seems fitting that our tutors are Berkeley students. Today Head-Royce students in Oakland’s hills take on a rigorous K-12 program with plenty of milestones along the way.

In 9th grade, every student completes the I-Search, a research paper paired with a TED-style talk. Juniors take Honors Humanities, combining English and history with frequent analytical writing, and upper-level courses in many departments are taught at or beyond the AP level. Our tutors help with research and writing, math through calculus, the sciences and French, Latin, Mandarin or Spanish.

We also work with middle school students at Head-Royce, and with families applying for 6th or 9th grade through our admissions test prep. Tell us about your student, and we’ll find the right fit.
