For St. Isidore families considering Carondelet or De La Salle, 8th grade includes the High School Placement Test, given in January on one shared Saturday across the Catholic high schools of the Diocese of Oakland.

Our UC Berkeley tutors help St. Isidore students prepare for the HSPT and for high school, and work with its younger students too. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Danville or online.
The HSPT
For fall 2027 entry, the test is on Saturday, January 9, 2027, and each student takes it once. De La Salle’s application is due December 11, 2026, a month before the test, so the fall fills up quickly. The test has five timed sections: verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics and language. Our HSPT prep builds skills from September on and finishes with timed practice tests.
Monte Vista, San Ramon Valley High and the younger grades
Students headed to Monte Vista or San Ramon Valley High get ready for the district’s math sequence. St. Isidore starts with Kinder Prep, and we tutor its younger students in math, reading and writing as well. For a young child, we choose a tutor for patience first, someone who makes the hour something to look forward to.
