St. Perpetua School Tutoring

St. Perpetua’s 8th graders head to high schools all over the area. For students applying to Carondelet, De La Salle, O’Dowd or the other Catholic high schools of the Diocese of Oakland, that means the High School Placement Test in January, which students take only once.

Our UC Berkeley tutors help St. Perpetua students prepare for the test and for high school. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Lafayette or online.

The HSPT

For fall 2027 entry, the test is on Saturday, January 9, 2027. A student takes it at one school and can send scores to as many as three, so one plan covers Carondelet, De La Salle and O’Dowd. Our HSPT prep begins in the fall. The tutor teaches the kinds of questions in each section, then moves to timed sets and, as January gets close, to full timed practice tests. The test moves quickly, so practice with pacing matters as much as knowing the material.

Acalanes, and the younger grades

Students going on to Acalanes get help preparing for its 90-minute classes and for 9th grade math placement. St. Perpetua runs from junior kindergarten through 8th grade and teaches Spanish from 3rd grade on, and we tutor its younger students in reading, writing, math and Spanish too.

What Cardinal Tutors families say

“It turns out my son also needed help staying organized with all his assignments, something that the tutor helped with as well.”
