La Jolla High offers a long list of AP, honors and college-credit courses, and a Biomedical Pathway for students interested in medicine or research. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from biology and chemistry to AP Calculus.

We help La Jolla High students with math, science, English, history, Latin and other languages, and with the SAT, ACT and college essays. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in La Jolla or online.
AP and college-credit classes
La Jolla High’s AP courses, advanced honors courses and college-credit courses in subjects such as business, math and political science carry heavy reading and writing. Our tutors help students plan the reading across the week, organize an analytical essay before they write it and prepare for the AP exams in May.
The Biomedical Pathway
For a student considering medicine or research, a UC San Diego tutor studying biology or bioengineering can help with the coursework and talk about what those majors are really like. Learn more about our science tutoring.
Math at La Jolla High
San Diego Unified teaches Integrated Math 1, 2 and 3 in place of Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2, with an advanced version of each. After those come precalculus, calculus, AP Statistics and data science. Students come to La Jolla High from Muirlands Middle School. A freshman who finished Integrated Math 1 Advanced in 8th grade starts high school in Integrated Math 2, and the first weeks show quickly whether anything was missed. Our tutors fill those gaps and then keep pace with the class. Students in the standard courses get the same help, and a strong enough base to take the advanced course the next year. Junior and senior year
Juniors work with our tutors on SAT and ACT prep, and seniors on their college essays. The tutor helps a senior find the right story and tighten each draft, and the writing stays the student’s own.
