Poway High offers an Engineering Academy alongside a full range of AP and college prep courses. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took physics, chemistry and calculus not long ago.

We help Poway High students with math, physics, chemistry, English, history and languages, and with SAT and ACT prep and college essays. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Poway or online.
The Engineering Academy
Engineering students need strong math and physics. We pair a student in the Engineering Academy with a UC San Diego engineering major, someone who knows the material and can talk honestly about what studying engineering is like. Learn more about our science tutoring.
Five classes a day
On most days, Poway High students have five class periods of about 70 minutes each, with a late start on Wednesdays. That means homework in several subjects most nights. Our tutors help students set up a routine: what to do first, how long to give each subject and when to start studying for a test. Poway High also has AVID, a program that teaches study skills, and our tutors are glad to reinforce what AVID students learn there.
Math at Poway High
Some freshmen took Poway Unified’s faster middle school math courses and some took the standard ones. Either way, precalculus and calculus depend on what came before, and a topic that was shaky two years ago tends to come back. Our tutors go back to that topic, reteach it and then return to the current week’s work. Learn more about our San Diego math tutoring.
Junior and senior year
Juniors work with our tutors on the SAT or ACT. Seniors get help with the UC Personal Insight Questions and other college essays, from the first outline to the final revision.
