Fremont’s Honors Chemistry moves quickly, with more math than the regular course. Our tutors are Stanford students and alumni who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to computer science.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a Stanford tutor who fits.
We tutor Sunnyvale students from elementary school through high school, including students at Fremont and nearby Homestead. We help with math, science, reading, writing and computer science. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Sunnyvale, or online.
Testing a claim in Fremont’s Science and Society
Fremont’s Science and Society is built around projects connecting science with current public issues. Your student can have a strong opinion about an issue without knowing what evidence would support it. A tutor helps them distinguish an opinion in their project from a claim they can investigate with data. Learn more about our science tutoring.

Debugging original programs at Homestead
Students in Homestead’s AP Computer Science A create and debug their own Java programs. Code that works for one input can fail for another, leaving your student unsure which part to change. A tutor traces the student’s code with the input that fails, stopping at the first point where the result differs from what the student expected. Learn more about our subject tutoring.
How math works in Sunnyvale
Families heading to Fremont request ninth-grade math during spring course selection, using eighth-grade class performance and assessment results to guide the choice. The school reviews placements again during the first month of high school. A student who finishes Algebra 1 in middle school normally continues with Geometry in ninth grade. Working from a word problem in your student’s current class, a tutor checks how they choose and set up the equation before calculating.
SAT, ACT and college essays
For the SAT and ACT, a tutor starts from a practice test and spends sessions on the question types your student misses most. For college essays, a tutor helps your student find a story only they could tell and shape it through drafts; the writing stays the student’s own. Learn more about our test preparation.
