Saratoga High’s Honors Chemistry moves faster than the regular course, with harder problems and more lab work. Our tutors are Stanford students and alumni who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to honors English.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a Stanford tutor who fits.
We tutor Saratoga students from elementary school through high school, including students at Saratoga High and Redwood Middle. We help with math, science, reading and writing. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Saratoga, or online.
Taking Saratoga High’s analysis further
English 11 Honors at Saratoga High puts intensive literary analysis at the center of reading and writing. An essay that would have felt finished in an earlier class can fall short here because the explanation stops too soon. A tutor reads a body paragraph with your student and asks which part of the interpretation they have left the reader to supply. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.

Keeping up with Redwood’s accelerated math
Redwood’s accelerated sixth-grade math includes sixth-grade material and part of seventh grade at a faster pace. At that pace, your student needs last week’s ideas ready while this week’s material is arriving. A tutor starts with the current unit and goes back to the earlier calculation that is slowing your student down, practicing it with them before returning to the new work. How math works in Saratoga
Redwood families select the next year’s math course in the spring, with school and state math results available to help judge readiness. Skipping course content requires an end-of-course test; choosing the accelerated sixth-grade class does not. At Saratoga High, ninth-grade placement takes account of whether your student has completed Algebra 1 and Geometry. A tutor has your student explain a completed class problem without referring to the worked example, checking that they understand the method independently.
SAT, ACT and college essays
For the SAT and ACT, a tutor starts from a practice test and spends sessions on the question types your student misses most. For college essays, a tutor helps your student find a story only they could tell and shape it through drafts; the writing stays the student’s own. Learn more about our test preparation.
