Poway Unified’s high schools each keep a different schedule, and its middle schools offer math at a faster pace. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who help students across the district with both.

We offer one-on-one tutoring in math, science, English, test preparation and college essays for families in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Peñasquitos and Torrey Highlands. Our tutors come to your home anywhere in the district, and online sessions are available too.
Different schedules at each high school
Poway High School and Del Norte High School have five classes a day, and Del Norte divides its year into three terms. Westview High School and Rancho Bernardo High have four long classes a day and finish each course in half a year. The schedule decides how fast a course moves and when finals arrive, so our tutors plan review around your student’s own school calendar.
Engineering at Poway High
Poway High offers an Engineering Academy, and we pair those students with a UC San Diego engineering student for physics and math. That tutor can also talk about what studying engineering in college is like.
Faster math in middle school
Poway Unified offers two faster math courses in middle school. One covers 6th and 7th grade math in a year, and the other covers 7th and 8th. Incoming 6th graders who want the first one take a district placement test, which in recent years has been given over the summer. Our tutors help students prepare for the test and keep up in the faster courses, as we do for Oak Valley Middle School families. Learn more about our San Diego math tutoring.
