Albany Middle School teaches math with CPM, which asks students to work in teams in class and then practice on their own at home, with homework and tests that keep circling back to earlier ideas. Students who do well in the group can still find the independent practice and cumulative tests hard, and that’s exactly where a tutor helps.
In 8th grade, students take a placement test in class that, along with a teacher’s recommendation, helps decide who starts Albany High in the accelerated math track. Our UC Berkeley tutors help students build the skills that test looks for, and keep up in English, science and history too.
