Whether your student is at King, home of the Edible Schoolyard, or at Willard or Longfellow, middle school in Berkeley follows a similar arc. Students take the same math course in each grade, and the first big decision comes in spring of 8th grade, when they can take the placement test for Berkeley High’s Advanced Math.
That test covers the full range of 8th-grade algebra and geometry, so a solid foundation built over 7th and 8th grade matters more than last-minute cramming. Our UC Berkeley tutors help students understand the math they’re learning now, fill in any gaps and feel ready when the test comes. We also help with writing, science, history and the study habits that carry into high school.
See our Berkeley High School page for what comes next, or tell us about your student and we’ll find the right tutor.
