Stanley Middle School Tutoring

At Stanley, 6th grade math matters more than many families expect. How a student does in Course 1 decides whether they move on to Course 2 or into Course 2/3A, a fast-paced class that covers 7th grade math and half of 8th. That leads to Course 3B/Algebra 1 in 8th grade and Geometry or Geometry Advanced as a freshman at Acalanes.

Our UC Berkeley tutors help Stanley students build strong skills in Course 1, keep up with the pace of the accelerated classes and make sure nothing is missed along the way. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Lafayette or online.

Math placement at Stanley

Stanley looks at a student’s work across the whole year of Course 1, so every chapter test counts. That makes the fall of 6th grade a good time to start with a tutor, while a small gap is still small. Students on the standard path get a foundation solid enough to move ahead later if they choose.

The step up to middle school

Sixth graders arrive at Stanley from four elementary schools, and for the first time they have several teachers, each with their own deadlines. Our tutors help students keep track of it all. We also help with writing, science, history and first-year world languages.
