At Christian High in El Cajon, sophomores discuss their reading in Socratic seminars, in both regular and honors English. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to AP Calculus.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC San Diego tutor who fits.
We help Christian High students keep up in their classes, prepare for the SAT and ACT and work on their college essays. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in El Cajon, La Mesa or Santee, or online.

Seminars and essays in English
A seminar asks students to talk about a book with evidence, out loud, in front of classmates, and a student who writes well can find that the harder skill. By junior year, Honors English III adds an argumentative essay at the end of every unit of American literature. A tutor talks through the reading with your student before a seminar, asking for the passage behind each opinion, and after each returned essay, picks the one habit worth fixing before the next. Two kinds of calculus
Christian High offers AP Calculus AB and a regular Calculus class that takes the year at its own pace, without the AP exam’s deadline. Both start with limits and the derivative, a new way of thinking after years of algebra. Your student and a tutor spend the early weeks on graphs and small examples, until the idea makes sense, because the rest of the course rests on it. Learn more about our math tutoring.

Love knowing that I have access to these high-quality services for my children. And, we use them via Zoom since we live in Tennessee. I cannot say enough great things about this business:)”
Extra lab time in AP Physics
AP Physics at Christian High adds lab sessions beyond regular class time. More lab time means more lab reports, and a report has to explain why a measurement came out the way it did. Before writing, your student talks through the data with a tutor: what was expected, what happened and what could account for the gap. Learn more about our science tutoring.
