At Classical Academy High School’s Studio campus, most courses cover a full year of material in one semester, so students take three or four classes at a time. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to AP Calculus BC.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC San Diego tutor who fits.
We help Classical Academy students keep up in their classes, prepare for the SAT and ACT and work on their college essays. Sessions are one-on-one, at your home in Escondido, San Marcos or Rancho Bernardo, or online.

Chemistry at double speed
Chemistry is one of the courses that fits a year into a semester, with regular labs on top. The first chapters, on units, conversions and moles, are the ones every later calculation is built on, and at this pace there’s little time to let them settle. Our tutors slow down where the class can’t. Your student brings the problems that went wrong that week, and they rework them together, slowly, until every step makes sense on its own. Before a lab report, they talk through what the data actually shows. Learn more about our science tutoring.
Math runs all year
Math is one of the few Studio classes that runs the whole school year instead of one semester. That suits a subject that builds on itself, and it also means a weak spot from September is still in the way in April. A tutor starts from this week’s homework, and when a problem stalls, practices the older skill underneath it with your student until it holds. Learn more about our math tutoring.

Essays written in class
English 2 Honors asks students to write more often, and at a higher level, than the regular class, including AP-style essays written in class. Sophomores are used to having days to draft. Here they get one class period. Our tutors practice that with your student: reading a prompt together, deciding on a claim in the first five minutes and choosing two pieces of evidence that will hold it up. Afterward, they read the essay together and talk about what to plan differently next time. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
