Rancho Bernardo runs on quarters: students take a few long classes at a time, and a full-year course is finished in about half a year. Our UC San Diego tutors have taken AP math and science themselves and know how quickly a quarter moves.

Calculus on quarters
At Rancho Bernardo, students headed for calculus go through AP Precalculus first, and some qualify for Calculus BC at the calculus teacher’s discretion. On quarters, a calculus course runs in half a year, so each week covers a lot of ground. A tutor checks each new topic with a student and works the problems that come next. Honors and AP science, paired
At Rancho Bernardo, Honors Biology is paired with AP Biology and Honors Chemistry with AP Chemistry, so a complete AP science takes four quarters: the honors quarters, then the AP ones. Our tutors help a student carry the honors material into the AP quarters, even when a quarter falls between them. Learn more about our science tutoring.

Essays from the first week
Rancho Bernardo offers honors English from 9th grade, with AP English Language and AP English Literature later on. Our tutors work with a student on essays from the first week of a course, outlining and revising until the writing holds together. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
