Scripps Ranch High School Tutoring

Scripps Ranch students can take AP Physics C: Mechanics, the physics course built on calculus, so the hardest science and the hardest math meet in one class. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to AP Physics C.

Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC San Diego tutor who fits.

Physics with calculus

AP Physics C describes motion with calculus, so a student can understand the physics and still lose points on the math, or the other way around. A tutor pulls the two apart. First comes the picture: the forces, the motion, what’s changing. Then comes the calculus that describes it. Students taking calculus at the same time start to see the same idea, a rate of change, from both sides. Learn more about our science tutoring.

Trigonometry in Advanced Integrated Math III

Advanced Integrated Math III gives trigonometric functions much more attention than the standard course, and that’s the material AP Calculus leans on hardest. A tutor has your student sketch sine and cosine by hand before reaching for the calculator, until the shapes and their shifts are familiar. Learn more about our math tutoring.

“My son had a wonderful experience with Cardinal Tutors when he needed help with his High School math and science classes. It turns out my son also needed help staying organized with all his assignments, something that the tutor helped with as well.”

“Their response time is outstanding. Neil responded quickly to my tutoring request for my 15-year-old. Love knowing that I have access to these high-quality services for my children. And, we use them via Zoom since we live in Tennessee. I cannot say enough great things about this business:)”

Reading closely in AP Literature

AP Literature at Scripps Ranch asks students to explain how a poem or novel creates its meaning, which is a different question from what it means. Students who read quickly for plot have to slow down to a line at a time. Your student marks up a poem with a tutor beside them, noting what each image is doing, and the margin notes become the outline for the essay. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
