Steele Canyon High School Tutoring

Steele Canyon teaches AP Calculus AB and BC as one class that meets every day all year, with AB in the first term and BC in the second. Our tutors are UC San Diego students who took many of the same courses not long ago, from chemistry to AP Calculus BC.

Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC San Diego tutor who fits.

From AB to BC in one year

The handoff from AB to BC happens mid-year with no break, and BC leans hardest on the integration from the fall. A tutor uses the weeks before the term changes to test your student on exactly the AB topics BC will need, so the spring starts on solid ground. Learn more about our math tutoring.

Chemistry in one term

Chemistry at Steele Canyon fits the whole course into a single term, so the pace is quick. Honors students also take on longer calculations, such as finding the heat of a reaction from several smaller steps. A tutor slows those problems down and has your student say what each step is for before doing it. Learn more about our science tutoring.

“My son had a wonderful experience with Cardinal Tutors when he needed help with his High School math and science classes. It turns out my son also needed help staying organized with all his assignments, something that the tutor helped with as well.”

“Their response time is outstanding. Neil responded quickly to my tutoring request for my 15-year-old. Love knowing that I have access to these high-quality services for my children. And, we use them via Zoom since we live in Tennessee. I cannot say enough great things about this business:)”

Timed essays in English 10

Sophomore English at Steele Canyon is paired with World History, and in English 10, about half the essays are written in class under a time limit. The rest are drafted and revised at home. Writing against the clock is its own skill: reading the prompt closely, choosing an argument in a few minutes and finding evidence fast. A tutor runs practice prompts under real time, then reads the result with your student and talks through what to plan differently next time. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
