Dougherty Valley’s College Connect program lets juniors and seniors who join it take college classes at Diablo Valley College alongside their high school schedule. Our UC Berkeley tutors are college students and graduates who know what college courses ask for.
Tell us about your student, and we’ll match them with a UC Berkeley tutor who fits.
We tutor Dougherty Valley students in everything from Geometry and Biology to AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C, and help with AP history essays and the SAT.
Ready for the next math course
Dougherty Valley publishes the topics a student should have mastered before each math course, from Algebra 1 to Calculus. A tutor uses that list to keep a strong student moving: checking the essentials quickly, then spending sessions on harder problems in the current course. Learn more about our math tutoring.
One science a year
At Dougherty Valley, students take at most one science a year, so AP Biology and AP Chemistry come in junior or senior year. The school tells families to expect eight to ten hours of work a week for each AP course, and our tutors use part of that time on the hardest problems and on practice exam questions. AP history in 10th grade
Dougherty Valley 10th graders can take AP World History or AP European History, and AP English follows in junior and senior year. A tutor helps a sophomore read a dense history text and write essays that argue from documents. Learn more about our English and writing tutoring.
