Walnut Creek Tutoring

Walnut Creek students head to two high schools run by two different districts, each with its own course catalog: Las Lomas, part of Acalanes Union, and Northgate, part of Mt. Diablo Unified. The UC Berkeley students who tutor for us take on any subject at either school, from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus BC.

Grade-level or compacted math

Before 7th grade, Walnut Creek School District families choose between grade-level math and a compacted pathway that covers three years of material in two, finishing Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade and leading to Geometry at Las Lomas. The district says the compacted class takes extra time outside of school, and that is where a tutor fits: a weekly session that turns the extra time into steady practice.

Las Lomas, Northgate and Seven Hills

The Walnut Creek students we tutor attend Las Lomas, Northgate, Walnut Creek Intermediate, Tice Creek, Foothill Middle and The Seven Hills School, and some go on to De La Salle, Carondelet or The Athenian School.

How we pick your tutor

We start with a conversation about your student: their classes, their goals and the kind of help that works for them. The UC Berkeley student we choose has the strengths to match, and you’ll see their background before the first session.
