At Piedmont Middle School, the biggest choice in 6th grade is often about math. Students can stay on the grade-level path or elect compression, which covers four years of math in three and reaches Integrated Math 2 by 9th grade. The district is candid that compression means more homework and more frequent tests, and that it isn’t for everyone.

Our UC Berkeley tutors help students who choose compression keep up with the pace, and help students on the grade-level path build a foundation strong enough to compress later in high school if they want to. They also help with English, science, history, Spanish, French and Mandarin, and with the organization that middle school suddenly requires.

Students heading to Piedmont High or Millennium arrive more confident when the habits are in place. Tell us about your student to get started.
